The trials and tribulations of working life... Part II

Arrr.... Remember I shared how I messed up my night shift and missed a lovely Yumcha lunch with frens?? Turns out there's more than that which I missed! But there's also stuff to be gained!

First thing that happened when I came in to work was this black thunder of my other boss who was really upset I messed things up. She stormed up to me and in the thick Scottish accent told me off cos I was not meant to show up meaning I was an extra person in the department... Basically that meant I was wasting resources... Then the next half hour later, I was reassigned to another section cos it was too busy... and in the end, was a much needed help to my colleagues... I knew there was no way we could be over-staffed as even with a full complement of staff.. we never have enough help around to do all the work!

Anyway, had a busy week working again... Went for a good dinnner after badminton on Sat (check out the earlier blog). Btw I was due to work the night shift again on Sunday night! This was my first badminton session in 2 years! I could hardly move my shoulder! And on top of that I played football on Sunday!! literally 1 hour before the start of my shift!! There I was starting work on Sunday evening after two successsive session of extreme sporting activity!...

Here are some pics of me on Monday morning at 10 am at the end of my night shift!

However what a glorious autumn day it was!! I went window shopping in Oxford st.. and headed for yumcha at a new restaurant!! It was 40% off... had a lovely meal with a Singaporean fren who just flew back into London. It was great seeing her again!

And guessed what??? I headed back into work at 5pm till 8pm!!! Darn extra shifts!!!! What a royal cock-up!!!

Oh well... at least the paycheck at the end of the week makes it all worthwhile... Btw, you guys like my new jacket and shirt??? Nice eh??

Cheers all!

the trouble with your organisation is not your cock-ups, just bad administration. Understaffed? Got budget? Then get more staff. No budget? Then rearrange the work schedule. Rearrange the work schedule and still some get double shifts? well dont blame the employees if they mess up. Human get tired and they mess up.

BTW, nice suit.

bonkers -  You've hit the spot! tell it to them.. I'm averaging about 47-50 hours a week.. They are paying me so much more cos they refuse to hire more permanent staff. But then they are spending govt money... so they don't care too much either.. its never-ending cycle of crisis management..

My only consolation is they pay me double my pay to deal with it! LOL... oh well..

At least thats providing me the money to buy my designer jackets and £50 shirts!! LOL... kakakaka.... Thanks man for the compliment.. but I was fishing for it... kekeke...

Can find it in harrods also there is a KIEHL'S on kings road as well. The pruducts is about £20-£40 but really worth it. ASk for  samples and try it first b4 you buy you are entitle to do that when buying skin care products, remember always ask for samples to try at home first if you happy with it only go back to buy so you won't end up spending on something you didn't like it or no suitable for your skin.  Specially for this kind of price.

Wed, 1 Oct 2008 6:57 am

Wow.. i never knew that you can get samples?? Thanks lynette my skincare regiment comes from the pound shop and supermarket previously.. I guess it is a good idea to buy some better stuff since I'm no longer operating on a student budget... lol.. But knightbridge and Chelsea's not my usual hangout place...

I'm more at Oxford st. You sure I can't get good quality skincare products at the drugstorse like BOots or Superdrug?

i knew you're fishing lah, your post smells fishy. But nvm, im in a good mood, i dont mind paying compliments to you coz u always put her picture up.

Crisis management? Haizz...someday somebody gonna get hurt. Overworked staff are prone to mistake. Mistake causes accident. Safety is very important.

Part of good crisis management is all about having good cover-up or contingency planning for efficient bucket managing protocols... "pass the buck".... or if all else fail... be covered with a huge indemity insurance policy which we are!! LOL.... Trust me if we make mistakes its like winning the lottery for these clients of ours!! But our asses are covered... soo... not a bad system to be overworked with! LOL..

I see you are still vying for me to put more pics.. too bad.. she's in italy for work this weekend... plus she's sick today... maybe next week ok?? *wink*wink*... nudge*nudge*

Expensive skin care like KEIHL's , lancome, Estee lauder and others you can always ask for samples. For example if you are buying a tube of face wash always ask for others sample to try as face cream or scrub general you are entitle to ask for up to 4-6 different samples when you buying even without buying you still can ask for one or 2 samples to try it first. But i am not sure in superdrug or boots or high street range you can do that or not  lol...

Mhmmm... some resort to sexy pics of tits and arse to get popular in ahmoi blog... I think I'm slowly being herded towards posting pics of my pretty frens for certain ppl to indulge themselves online... lol... And to popularise my blogs... LOL...

Lynette - dun think boots or superdrug gonna give any freebies... you're goin to have tos neak them out of the shop urself for that to happen.. I've never gone to the better makeup counters before... mhmm... a bit shy lar... maybe they'll send via post if i go online ask for sampels?

Up to you lah...if you ever need it don't feel shy to let me know, I get discount as well.

Wed, 1 Oct 2008 8:40 am
GOG : hows the situation in UK now? Are people running out of jobs atm? I'm worried when my sis told me about it.

Wed, 1 Oct 2008 12:04 pm

Lynettte -  thanks... and wow.. you must be hardcore shopper... gets so much discount!

Lugi - I think the situation is bad in private sector businesss, I've been told. Especially in the banking and finance industry. But I was looking for a job 3 months ago and I work for public sector in a specialised profession, no problem there. i guess it depends on what you do for a living. If you're white collar unskilled, its going to be tough for the next 1-2 years at least. My IT frens in banking are not so affected cos they are very highly in demand.. but still they have to see if they are so unlucky as to had chosen a failing bank to work for. For now, they are all sitting tight and praying at their desks.

queenie -  wat to do... the only way to open my eyes wider after a tough work shift is to scrunch up my face!! LOL... lately... my gal frens been saying that a lot... "Do my eyes look bigger??"

I must have caught the trend too!!! LOL

Love thy neighbour but not his wife
Wed, 1 Oct 2008 1:47 pm
why do you need to open your eyes wider?
Wed, 1 Oct 2008 3:26 pm
cos I was shattered after a 12 hour shift... and two sessions of extreme sporting activity before the start of it.. not to mention, the pics was taken after 3 hours of sleep.. unshaven and unwashed...

Like i said my sis is in UK working, in the banking sector, yeah she's worried when her contract ends this year. Hope there are other jobs out there.

Wed, 1 Oct 2008 8:28 pm
Better start looking now.... prob banking jobs are hard to get now... unless you are a specialised field like IT or consultancy of some sort!
